Beyond Solar's Shine A Light project demonstrated our belief that solar powered lighting can be deployed
to the rural poor in a sustainable manner. Through the avoided cost of kerosene and the added productive hours afforded
by the solar powered lighting, even the poorest inhabitants of villages without grid-supplied electricity can afford
to improve their lives. All they need is the access to capital.
With the conclusion of Beyond Solar's inaugural project, we are looking to further our efforts on two fronts:
Continued deployment of solar powered lanterns in the Koraput region of Orissa, India.
We will be making an annual purchase of solar lanterns and look towards the support of
donors for financing.
Large scale deployment ( >10,000 units ) by partnering with micro-finance organizations and NGOs.
